AI & The Future of Content Creation

I was talking with a friend the other day about the struggles of starting your own business. Most days it seems impossible to keep up operationally, much less post on socials, reply to comments and respond to emails. I asked how she manages her time between running her business and managing its many social media accounts and her answer was almost too obvious.

“Oh, I just use AI,” she said, “Yeah, I just ask it to come up with a social media calendar for the week and when I’m stuck, it can generate a caption for me, too.” Impossible- this is way too good to be true. I don’t know about you, but I just had to understand the hype surrounding all that is artificial intelligence.

Soooo, what is it, anyway? According to conductor.com, “AI-generated content describes pieces of writing or designs that were created by machine learning based on human inputs rather than traditional content creation. This could include creating anything from long-form articles to Facebook ad copy. Some tools even offer AI image generation.”

In other words, we have single-handedly eliminated the dreaded block that inhibits every creator eventually.

At this point… the suspense was killing me quicker than my writer’s block. I had to try it for myself. After researching different AI platforms, I found that most digital marketers are using tools such as Jasper AI (32.8%), ChatGPT (22.4%) and Copy.ai (9%) to help them generate content every day.

So what does that mean?

According to Hubspot, “28% of marketers that use AI, use it to actually write content directly, whereas 33% prefer to use it as a companion tool to spark ideas and creativity.”  Simple enough. I had an entire quarter to plan with no motivation or inspiration in sight.

One marketing plan, two social media calendars and three articles later, I was in love. Though AI can be repetitive at times and may lack the “tone” of a human writer, it’s exceptionally helpful with generating ideas. You can find inspiration for anything and everything content related. We’re talking email campaigns, blogs, contracts, all of it.

Long story short, this entire article was written by AI. Just kidding. But for the content creators out there, it really IS worth the hype. Don’t believe me? Try it for yourself.
